HALE, EDWIN M. The Practice of Medicine. First Edition. Gross & Delbridge. Chicago. 1894. 1,033 pp.
Includes a nice frontis portrait of Hale, opposite the title page. Early rebinding, missing the complete spine lettering. Overall, a nice copy in good condition.
Hale tells us that the aim of the book is to present to the physician the most practical way of treating disease by medicinal hygienic methods. To do this "I have drawn from my experience as a general practitioner for forty years, and upon the experience and observations of my colleagues of all schools of practice so far as I believe them trustworthy." All of Hale's works are scarce and desirable. To our knowledge this one is not in print!
